Friday! I can sleep in an extra half an hour tomorrow before i get up and go to work (right after i get my da started helping out with some home plumbing work) and right before i go to the dojo to work out so i can come home and get in some time working on processing photos. Somewhere in there i also need to take a working lunch for my next set of food reviews.

Thanks stupid POS f*cking DOL website for not accepting my changes to my business license for some unidentifiable piece of mis-entered information. Your instructions are so NOT helpful as is the $20 hold on my bank account each time I think I've fixed what you thought was wrong until my business bank account is virtually empty. (But not really, thanks that's really f*cking comforting you CSR hack, why don't you get someone to talk to your third party vendor about how you can fix your craptastic site so that it's not broken. Better yet let me do it. I could have it fixed in like half a day you asshats.) NOT HAPPY.

I'm still missing Scotland, plus I haven't really taken many personal photos lately so you get a two year old photo of Castlegate. Been reading lots (it's the tension doncha know) and I heartily recommend Mortal Engines as well as Airborne and Skybreaker which were brilliant. Spent some me time in the darkroom at Prep which was nice and I feel like I've got my feet underneath me a little bit more anyway. Ran a one hour improv workshop this morning which was more fun than it had any right to be and went on a fall colors photoroll that ended up being more about the models that came since hardly any trees have turned yet (nor have either of my burning bushes in the front yard). Realized that yet again I have chosen a field in which who you know is much more important than what you know. I know I am a little slow sometimes and should have known it from the start. On the other hand I know a lot of talented awesome people who may need my photographic services, you just don't know it yet: So if you even twitch in the direction of a photographer remember that I exist, NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE. I need to get my work international because, it is possible and I deserve it. Anyway, hi internets, how are you?

Pulled this one from my archive of last September. I'm shooting but not a whole lot for me right now which is a little frustrating. I've got a shoot tomorrow (right after class) then lunch with friend Todd (he owes me a Cap'n Juicy Dog) then down to Pullman, then Saturday in Pullman and home by 5ish at the latest. Another shoot on Sunday then hometime with the girl and we get back on the train to crazy town Monday morning...

Aikido was much better tonight, downright joyful as a matter of fact. Not only was my special friend missing but apparently I was not the only one tired of whatever it is he was dishing out and he got on Sensei's bad side yesterday (thus missing today). And his little seniority snit was overheard by the dojo-cho so I guess the keep on keepin' on is what I'm doin'.

But absolute best of all: we get Nevilles on Thursday: Yay!

I am willing to entertain edumacational hijinx from other ejumacators on my f-list now. So I I figured that going over the syllabus, my expectations, our limitations (in terms of material) and general stuff would take up today's teaching time. It took 15 minutes out of 50. I did remember that we needed to assign drawers in the dark room which took another 5-7. Then I had nothing, and they had no questions yet. Tomorrow I am giving a brief (but hopefully not too brief) overview of the history of photography and maybe an introduction to camera mechanics... I have no idea how to stop today from happening to me again!

Wish me luck...

So I can stop panicking about it. I know that I am going to feel only two steps ahead of my students what with the teaching the 11 year old skills that are a little rusty. But I need to get on it. I want to get into the dark room and load some film canisters, develop some film and prints so I feel ahead of the game. Except I poked around in there last week and there seems to be no film or chemicals (plenty of paper though). So I have to sit and wait.... I hate waiting.

Below is my cousin Melissa, she's a photographer in L.A. and before the wedding and funeral I hadn't seen her in over 10 years. How does that happen? I think it's terrible and I am determined not to let 10 more years go by....

So first off I am now teaching high school photography (got the call from Fr. Kevin Connell S. to the J. around six last evening). So hooray! Now I can panic about something entirely new! I'll be desperately refreshing myself on how to shoot b&w film the next two weeks. Also we'll be shopping for a car. The best thing is I am going to be forced to revisit photography at a very basic level and kill some bad habits and get better, the second best thing is I've just extended my business all the way out to may/june of 2009.

We in the final stages of moving in. all but one box has been unpacked and we are in the stage where we sort of have extra moving trash and recycling that won't fit outside in one week.

My grandmother's funeral was nice and I mean that in a friendly the family got together and celebrated sort of way. It was sad but pleasant. I got to spend more time with my cousins which I really miss because I've never lived in the same place as them so visiting or even just calling/texting/chatting is not second nature and I tend to be sort of reserved (we just don't all know each other that well) but now, hopefully we'll start visiting each other when we can. I especially got to know the new cousin what married in fairly well as he and my cousin Erin were my ride into and out of price. We get along famously.

Below are my youngest cousins (who came along almost before I stopped going along on family vacations due to work and other grown up stuff). Other than that life is good!

I have a fairly big (for me anyway) shoot today as well as an interview (or something much like one) for a position at my old high school teaching one period of photography. What is going on with me? I have no idea!

Also this is for [livejournal.com profile] derbiser & [livejournal.com profile] goobermunch: Hockey Fan

Hopefully by the end of this week I'll have some more photoshoots set up. I'll also have made a good dent in the packing for the impending move as well as 7th kyu aikikai (again, I am a little irritated as one of my fellow students is testing to jump two ranks which I am sure I could have done if anyone asked me to but now it is too late *sigh*). I may or may not be sleeping decently.

So I've been toiling away today beating Wordpress into submission and playing with themes. I think the new site is a billion times more slick than the old one. Actual content is coming slowly but the actual structure seems to be coming along rather quickly. Thoughts or impressions?

Oh and if you have an RSS feed reader you won't have to depend on me to catch updates over there (although I am not sure how often those will be, maybe once a week or something? I dunno).

The Mary and/or Jesus and/or Saintly Intermediary bothering, the prayer wheel spinning or what-have-you. Today I go to nail down continuing commercial work!

Let's see, the new site it is up, business cards are ordered. The car is starting to be packed. Tomorrow I roll my newest tiny IRA into the old IRA plus I will have my metting to finish nailing down some regular commercial work. I need to write a 300 word food review for a fantastic little Indian Buffet downtown ($7.99 for good curry & dal and obscenely cheerful help!) Friday I get my hair cleaned up before the wedding and then we have the rehearsal and dinner. We will hopefully get a peek inside our potential house by Saturday too. Then Wedding bells and more food, then the drivinating.

Not much happening today. I'm going to plug away at getting a real website put together while hosting is getting started (instead of the place holder index page that will redirect to acid-tongue.org. Going to shop for some flat sheets to use as back drops for portaiture. Kick a Kitten. Get our tent out and make sure it is all ok for Sunday's little camping excursion on our way south-eastish. Tomorrow is [livejournal.com profile] secret_hippie's birthday she is ooooooooooollllld, remember you'll need to start speaking slower and louder with her now.

I feel like I haven't done all that much but then I look at my calendar: three photoshoots this week (one cover), one mandatory dinner out (for a food review) plus illustration work and just kind of picking up the pieces stuff inbetween. I think I need to figure out how to manage things better because I actually need to be busier but my time management so far has left me feeling just a little this side of overwhelmed. I've got some d&d coming up though, and a day out in my dad's newly built boat. Just need to keep breathing!

I was going to head downtown today for my photoshoot and it is snowing. Sideways even (at this moment anyway). If I am really lucky maybe there will be a break later today.

It's been a long stupid week but it ended well: my tablet arrived in the post yesterday (Friday) so I hope to start working more digitally, and Sar and I declared by mid afternoon: F*ck it we're heading out for dinner so we had delicious delicious dinner. Homemade lamb sausage with pork medallions and baked beans, mushroom ravioli in a bacon cream sauce, apple gruyere salad, shrimp, beer and apple tart with fresh made ice cream and pineapple upside-down cake for dessert. Plus we got to be indignant about her job (not to speak ill of the dead but Old Librarian™ was a lazy nutjob) as well as my jobs (dumber than a box of lobotomized rocks). But there are good things too: at least one more MS job (even after old project manager departed so: yay!), a quick photoshoot for Owl Kids (thanks [livejournal.com profile] thedragonweaver) and an local illustration commission to finish up. Slowly but surely: progress.

Squee!

Took this shot back in October but it article didn't come out until this month. Sadly this shot wasn't used. I think it was the best one I took that day though...
