Oooooh, I like these. Cool use of light to the point where it's ALMOST, but not quite washing things out. Nice!

Yeah, that's the thing I've got to figure out. I've got lots that are totally washed out.

I'm pretty surprised myself. I've been pretty antiflash since generally the flash is right next to or above the lense so all the damn thing does is flatten everything out.

I've basically got something like this except much older. (My da dug it up somewhere and handed it off to me last weekend.) I picked up a flash cable so I can hold it off to the side and aim it (somewhere out of frame seems to be working best). If your camera's interal meter is working then it's pretty easy, my flash has to "automatic" settings (I can shoot at f5.6 or f11) or you can put set it to "manual" in which you have to do all this crazy math based on the f-stop you want to use and your distance to the subject.

[Note to all my science nerd friends: math is not really all that crazy I am just lazy mostly. Especially when it comes to algebra in my head while taking someone's picture.]

I think that's my favorite Rona picture ever... she looks so growed up.

Good job dad. :)
