Not to ruin your enjoyment, but I find that everyone asks if I'm Canadian. Apparently, Canadians get huffy if you ask them the opposite question, so the locals have just taken on the 'Are you from Canada?' to be safe.
Since I'm staying here for the forseeable future, I just say that I'm from Aberdeen. I find the bafflement deliciously amusing. :)
