Ah spring. So of course it snowed last night. Not much, certainly not like the St. Patrick's Day Blizzard of '03. Although that would be kind of cool. If we had the chance to stock up on food first.

I always hear about the '97 (or was it '98?) ICE STORM X-TREEEEEME!!!!1111oneone!!11 from Spokanites. You were there for that, right? How'd it compare to St. Patty's END OF DAYS, Denver Edition?

Ice Storm '96 has got nuthin' on the St. Patty's Day Blizzard. The ice storm was impressive and did more long lasting collateral damage (power out for three days-two weeks depending on where you were) but the day after you could get out of your house and trek (or carefully, carefully drive) places. In Denver I was trapped in my house for a week by five feet of drifting snow at the front door. Even with my not small truck I was going nowhere until someone came a plowed, and even then I had to shovel for an afternoon to clear the four feet between my back bumper and the road and the area just around the sides so I could get in. I couldn't even get to the store to get properly liqoured up for the experience... unlike ye ol' Ice Storm.

The fun for us was that we were trying to get our car properly licensed. Well, there was a DMV next door— but we were going to have to drive up to Arvada.

This, of course, was discovered AFTER Rob had an asthma attack by trudging throught the snow to the *closed* next-door DMV.

Hmm. I got both the ice storm and the blizzard; now that I'm back in Cali, there's tornadoes in Elk Grove. I need to hang out with Joe more.
