Death of a Peepshi, originally uploaded by josh.

Well, things have certainly been insane on my end. My day job ramped up and then back down. We had an Easter weekend filled with family gathers of one sort or another. Plus I started getting back in the swing of shooting more daily. Well, more daily than I had been anyway. Other photos from the latest upload are here. The upside of winding down the day job is that if you need photos taken I have a much more open schedule now and would love to take them!

A few more photos. Things are winding up just as much as they are winding down at my day job. While I’ve been thankful to have an stable source of income it’s been hard as it has really cut into my time available to shoot lately…

Ghost Bike (Detail), originally uploaded by josh.

A couple more shots uploaded today. The Ghost Bike is a memorial for a local cyclist who was struck by a hit and run drunk driver earlier this month at an intersection that I avoid in my car much less on foot or when on my bike.

Kokyu Dosa, originally uploaded by josh.

Today was testing for the kids class at the Aikido dojo where I train. It was fantastic to see them all be able to show off all the hard work they’ve been putting in the last few months. The day after tomorrow I get to show off all of mine, I hope I keep my cool as well as those testing today did…

Time Out, originally uploaded by josh.

I keep trying to shoot with just available light at the current Lilac City Roller Girl location (Pattisons North) but it is incredibly dark in there. If you haven’t gone to see women’s flat track roller derby at least once you haven’t lived! I made the mistake of calculating how far behind I am so there are a couple more shots from the evening.

Thoughtful, originally uploaded by josh.

A new website and a little POD photo dump. I’ve also got some from the Lilac City Rollergirls Derby bout last night but those are still on the camera. I’ll have those and more by the end of this coming weekend I promise…

Patience Required, originally uploaded by Josh.

Took a break today from the grindstone and spent the day with friends: brunch, a great hockey game and board games is a recipe for good times!

Feewings!, originally uploaded by Josh.

I had the pleasure of providing a friend and local poet Sabrina Mauritz with some headshots this afternoon. I like poetry but I will admit I find it frightening and intimidating so I tend to make fun of it a lot: it’s only funny because I love it so! We’ve had a couple of discussion about how poetry is more than feewings and then I had to go and take this photo today. I love how cherry picking a moment in time I can spin any story I want. I could tell you that she is a sensitive artist who wears her feelings on her sleeves and reads Plath and that this represents to the core who she is. Or I could let you in on the fact that I caught her glancing down at her cat who was feeling unloved at the moment, which–today anyway–is much funnier.

Yogi, originally uploaded by Josh.

This morning Rona wanted to show off her Yoga Pose for me, she had gotten up early and practiced with Sara before I got up. I came home late to find her engrossed in the internet. I think I’d call that an example of two extremes…

First Bloom, originally uploaded by Josh.

Our crocus’s (croci?) have arrived. But I really know it’s spring because I want to tear out all the carpet in our home and replace the floors…

Over Engineered (A Detail), originally uploaded by Josh.

After multiple days of engineering I succeed in creating a car that also spins a carousel as it drives along. It is too heavy to actually propel itself…

But all the gears line up!

Winter Seed Pods, originally uploaded by Josh.

Most of the rest of the country seems to be buried in snow but it has been so mild here that we spent part of today outside getting the gardens cleaned up. Some of us were more helpful than others of course (I help the best when I just stay out of the way).

Leftover Sweeties, originally uploaded by Josh.

Hopefully your Sweetheart President was good to and showered you with specialty chocolates and/or other dietary and/or presidentially appropriate gifts! One other upload today plus the bonus that I discovered I need to take more vacation time in the near future so I should fine some extra time to just get out and shoot!

The Pass, originally uploaded by Josh.

A three day weekend means a chance to catch up on all the things you are falling behind on: apparently for me that was sleep. Also a few more photos processed and uploaded, laundry put away that sort of thing…

Portrait I: Emily, originally uploaded by toosuto.

My sister has been visiting from New York to celebrate her birthday and this evening we had a quiet family dinner together. Of course with all this crazy weather we get her for some extra days until she can actually fly and land back east. I took two other portraits this evening as well.

Tamales, originally uploaded by toosuto.

Fantastic dinner with my sister and family this evening: homemade tomales, spanish rice, pork chili, enchilda casserole, refried beans from scratch and fried corn and squash plus key lime pie for desert. I am almost hungry again just writing about it.

Time certainly is flying. Thanks to everyone who came and visited with me Friday at Strong Solutions! I’ve dumped a few photos today and I’ll keep moving along…

That’s another weekend gone now. It seems like we just had new years, when did it get to be the end of January already? Three more photos uploaded today. Also I’ll have some portraits hanging at Strong Solutions in February and there will be a reception on the fifth as part of the quarterly Spokane Artwalk.

Early Riser, originally uploaded by toosuto.

After today’s upload I am only behind about 10 photos. This apparently has very much become the Average of 1 photo per day project.
