The Jone's Soda Bottle. I should bother to submit some of my own...
22 December 2006
Took my special lady out today, nothing fancy just wander about, see a movie and then some dinner and home while the sister watches the Monkey™. I have no idea why she lets me do this to her. Initially we planned to catch the matinee only showing of Pan's Labyrinth. But when we got to the Belmont discovered that the schedule had been changed and now Fri-Sat. it was at 6 pm. No problem we can grab some lunch and make a new plan. Or as it turned out a double feature. We caught The Holiday because Kate Winslet? Jack Black? Why not? Too bad the movie spends far too much time following the boring and wooden couple of Cameron Diaz and Jude Law, still: cute.
So some years ago I took Sara to see this movie. "It'll be awesome," I said, "Crazy kung fu action!" I said. Then we walked in to see Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. "I had no idea it was a emotionally involving tragedy," I exclaimed (multiple times) as we left, "I'm sorry." Pan's Labyrinth was fantastic, dark, magical. And as brutal as all get out. I feel like I'm wearing a permanent wince. None the less it was awesome. See it. Just don't expect it to be all fairies and gumdrops OK?
Also:mystery person (if you are reading this) who recommended me for logo work over on this blog Lorna: thanks, Amanda–the author–has gotten in touch and I am (hopefully) closing the deal. Did that last statement have enough parentheticals? I believe so. Happy Christmas everybody!
