Dropped by the my dad’s shop this afternoon so I could install Aperture 2 (picked up off eBay on the cheap now that Aperture 3 has been released) on the mini and got to see the box nearly finished. It’s currently missing some handles and exterior hardware but this is essentially it. I’m especially excited about the casters on it. The wheels on the bottom sit outside of the platform that will the booth will sit on, attached by industrial strength velcro. The guts start going in this week: woo!
On the programming side I’ve gotten the start button up and working in as much as I can see that I properly detect the button push. I am currently learning about how to monitor a serial device (aka “the button”) via a Java app that will then launch my applescript that will actually control the camera. I’m feeling pretty confident that I can have it all working by July 7th (when I roll it out at a wedding reception at Barrister Winery here in Spokane).
