Happy 2010! We had a lovely evening waiting for midnight, the only downside was I couldn’t actually afford the Scotch I wanted (ah well). Today we helped celebrate the anniversary of old family friends: what a wonderful way to start the new year!

I got all caught up int the post Christmas let down, but I am still making progress (116 photos in 119 days so far). I haven’t left the house in two days which is nice. Tomorrow is the return of the Day Job™.

Happy Christmas hopefully your day was merry and relaxing and no one forced you to wear plush reindeer antlers! Today was very lovely in my home and I was still able to slowly make progress catching up between yesterday and today.

I am not find of winter but I love Christmas for the simple fact that so many people I rarely get to see are traveling and if I am very lucky they come to my house while they are out and about. I’ve known Sonja since for 20 years or so. And I believe I have never beaten her in Farkle before tonight. (Also a photo from yesterday and an extra one today mean I am still slowly catching up.)

Slowly we are catching up! My family, like many hobbits celebrated First Christmas this past weekend with family that traveled in early and will leave again before regular Christmas. I’ve taken a holiday from the day job and we’re just plugging along spending time with family and friends and slowly building up to the big day.

I am not sure how I feel about flu shots. I got mine on Wednesday and turned into a zombie for four days. I even forgot to take a CF card with me when I went to the Roller Derby bout on Thursday, I had my camera but still couldn’t take photos: talk about frustrating! It’ll take me a bit to get caught up but I got an extra shot today while we were touring the gingerbread houses on display at the Davenport Hotel.

Ugh. Got my flu shots today and they are hitting me hard, we managed to get all our big packages (and my failed external hard drive set up in the bottom most box) sealed up and ready to go though.

A lovely evening spent at home, writing in cards, making cards adn wrapping gifts. All on the eve of a winter storm warning as well, maybe tomorrow we’ll wake up to a snow day!

Back when we used to attempt to keep a tree alive inside this time of year we used to finish up our Christmas Tree mission with a trip to a local tavern for cocoa, (or a fine whisky). Now we just share a drink sometime near Christmas, it’s much warmer over all and there are less pine needles all over the inside of my house. Today is a twofer with a pub portrait of my father in law as well.

Our friend Jen’s daughter turned one earlier this week so of course we sat around and ate cake. I’m a little disappointed about yesterday. I dragged my camera all the way out to my daughter’s Christmas concert only to discover I had failed to grab a memory card. C’est le vie, I suppose. I had the chance to enjoy the whole thing from start to finish without the distracting urge to put the camera between me and the event which was nice!

December birthdays were celebrated at the communal soup night with chocolate capuchino bread pudding. I am not normally a fan of bread pudding but I am suspect this evening all the same…

Tuesday nights are for watching old BBC children’s shows in costume while enjoying Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and then snuggling on the couch. At least that’s what my daughter might tell you.

Pledge Takers

Saturday I helped take pledges for the local public television station along with the rest of my fellow aikidoka at the Roshinkan Dojo. It was a lot more fun than I expected and we followed it up with a couple of pitchers of beer when we were done. Suffice to say I did not accomplish much today as a result. Hopefully everyone’s weekend was as relaxing as mine turned out to be!
