The nursery called us yesterday afternoon because Rona was complaining she "didn't feel good" (her new catch phrase for when she's upset and not getting her way) and had developed a spotty rash all over her body and could we please come pick her up. This of course not on a day where Sara is in class and I am at home a mere 5 minutes away but when Sara and I sneak away downtown to have some lunch and unfortunately deal with the bank and errands. Our first "date" since sometime in July. Oh well. The Dr. tells us (the health center is across the street from the nursery) it could be a reaction to a respiratory virus due to a immature immune system or the chicken pox. So we are home again today with the spots which have done absolutely nothing. Not faded, not gotten any thicker and certainly haven't bothered to begin to blister. Is it too much to ask for some closure?

To add insult to injury our television crapped out this morning. Feh. This week can go to hell.

If the rash is in a lacy pattern it is probably fifths diasese.

That's possible too I suppose, although the rash is really just a large number of spots without any other extra redness, but the rest of the symptoms seem to match up to recent events so maybe...

Thanks mystery commenter!

Has she had a fever recently? It could also be roseola.

The spots are all wrong. But she was running a fever all weekend (Friday until Monday morning). I have pretty much come to grips with the fact that science/medicine will not answer provide me the closure I crave, unless these spots spontaneously decide to blister in the next 24 hours, which I doubt).

No need, it is under warranty and we should be getting it taken care of this evening, but thanks for the concern...It certainly would suck to have just bought the thing and just be SOL.

And for a ride down to Curry's to replace it. Because no one wants to carry a 21" television 3/4 of a mile anywhere. Much less in the dark.

Chicken pox? She's not been vaccinated?

Chicken pox sucks. See if the soothing baths/lotions help— they'll help for lots of rashy things, not just the pox.

Chickenpox is self vaccinating ;-)

Yeah, I know... but tell it to my brother, who infected me when he got it for the second time.

Now that there's a vaccine, I'm totally getting it for any kids I have. And getting it myself, since there's a proven history of multiple infection in my family.
