If I didn't have to use iChat I'd stop, since when is chat encryption something I should have to pay for? I just noticed that the current version of iChat does not allow me to encrypt my chats unless I have a .Mac account. What the hell? Just one more reason to hope that video chat is soon able to be wrapped into Adium...

I don't as a default. But I have contacts who do default to it. And I noticed that it was something that was removed from my functionality somewhere along the line. Now if I try to turn it on I am informed that my account "is not capable of encryption" and would I like to learn more? When you select "Learn More" it takes you to the apple page for the .Mac account.
