Game Recommendations

I am not giving them but asking for them.

I have about $50 left in Christmas money. I did not receive Arkham Horror like I suspected I might but I am somewhat leaning in that direction... I could also beef up my Munchkin cards as I have zero expansions. I dunno. Besides Agricola (hallandoatbran) what would pick out?

Definitely go with Arkham Horror. Got SOOOO much play out of that game. And it's never been the same game twice. Great replayability, cooperative, and intense.

The game I've played the most in the last year--except perhaps for Race for the Galaxy--is Kingsburg. Agricola is great, but it's HEAVY. If you have a game group that likes a good resource-managey slog, then go for it (although it's also like $70+ MSRP). But Kingsburg is a great mid-weight game with some random dice-rolls that lead to some tough decisions and varying strategies.

I got Pandemic for Christmas and it's gotten a great reception so far. It's a cooperative game that's also simple and QUICK (1 hour) and filled with tense moments.

Not that I would dissuade you from getting Arkham Horror, which is grand, if a bit overwrought in the rules department and sometimes dissatisfying... But grand nonetheless!

Other games Josh would like: Pirate's Cove, Fury of Dracula... Battlestar Galactica?
