Five years ago I got my first real look at you. It was a pretty emotional deal. And now you are five: it's crazy. Except for when you were born you've always been such a wee thing and all of a sudden you are as tall as my waist. (Although for the record I think you are still officially on the small side, but there is plenty of time for those Kobe tall genes to kick in.) You've changed so much (again) over the last year. I write this not because it's a surprise but because once a year I just have to process it, and take that step forward with you. Somedays I just want to throw you forward and push you to challenge yourself but on the days when you set those goals for yourself I just want to gather you up and keep you just as you are. You are (most of the time) so wonderful and it's worth the other times. Your teen years will certainly be a challenge for all of us I am sure though. But we'll get there right on schedule and I am certain that it will still be more wonderful that all the years that will have come before. I can't wait to see what you learn this year and how it changes you!
