Leaving someplace where you aren't comfortable or happy will certainly cast a favorable light on the rest of the weekend. It's even better when one of the few people there that you feel sort of bad about leaving goes out of their way to make it better, case in point, part of the moneys that I owed for my class time were forgiven so that I actually got a small paycheck on Friday rather than no paycheck on Friday. My last day was pretty uneventful and I am thankful that I was able to exit with dignity etc etc etc (instead of as a raving, frothing lunatic as I had foreseen).
kisken and
goobermunch (he doesn't write) arrived late Friday night after managing to not have flown to Las Vegas. But they resisted the siren call of sin city and came here anyway. So the Saturday was good, a nice breakfast out with Thom and Karen, along with the best waitress ever, then a drive up to Manito for holiday portrait taking. I think I even managed to get some pictures that I was happy with (and I am hyper critical of my pictures... something I need to get over since it makes it hard to take candids) I am in complete lust for
kiskn's camera (an Canon Rebel EOS) it make's me all drooly and weak in the knees. We did a brief stint of shopping and then raced back across town to the store and to the mother in law's house for the annual Halloween party that was not annual this year but since we have people coming in from out of town let's call it a family dinner and have it anyway. so a lot of food (I showed remarkable restraint) including the best bruchetta ever since Thom was there. There was also the mandatory pumpkin carving (somehow I only did one) which inckluded the annual vomiting pumpkin. Rona did pretty fantastic having been up very late both Friday and Saturday we managed to stay out until 8ish and then we came back to the house where she was much happier (also I think she was tired of riding in the car.) The five of us hung out, burned CDs and even played cribbage (woo for cribbage) with Thom (whom I just barely defeated.) sunday was breakfast at The Old European (mmm, ableskeevers) and then second service (all the more exciting because it was Reformation Day!) Of course it just turns out that Reformation Day means it is difficult to find a place to park and mass tends to drag out a bit. Also we almost had nowhere to sit. Then back home again for last minute hanging out and then to the airport. Then mostly what
secret_hippie and I were for halloween was tired. We watched us some of ur TiVo had pot roast sandwiches and crawled up to bed around 9 PM. The only thing that would have made the weekend better would have been if we could have amde it to
mzorah's halloween shindig yesterday.
Also Jaymers: my homework arrived and I have started the required reading. I know things are crappy right now but let me know when is a good time to catch you later... I'm pretty much free all week!
