Wow. Four it seems like not so long ago we were just bring you home and introducing you to your kitties. Or explaining that we were moving far across the ocean and you'd get to go to school there. Even that we were moving back across the ocean and that green man was only on the traffic lights in Scotland or that "zee" is the same as "zed." You've gotten so big now. You've been telling us for the last month that once you turn four you won't need your binky anymore. You are so eager to be a big girl and all the privileges that entails. Which is why I am so fierce to be sure that you are challenged to learn (this week has been very trying in that regard) because you love it so much. I love that for the last month you've woken up everyday and asked if "it was a school day already?" Towards the end you got pretty fed up with your mother and myself because you were ready to go back. I love that you are ready to go, absolutely fearless. You love to swim (I tried to choke/drown my instructor and I was like five!) and can't wait for the next swim session.

I love how surly you are in the morning, because the rest of the time you are so awesome it is unreal and your very real ability to drive me nuts reminds me this isn't just some crazy dream. I love to hear you sing in the bath, or in the back of the car. I love pushing the Go-Fast Button when ever we first get going. I love getting head-bonk loves, kisses and hugs when I am upstairs working away when you are ready to have Momma read your bedtime story and tuck you in. I love your silly monkey faces and your crazy jokes. I love that after all this time fighting with me that Steven is a boy's name that when I asked you if Mrs. Excitement was a boy or a girl (we'd determined that Mr. Excitement was indeed a boy) you told me Mrs. Excitement could be a boy or a girl because Steven was sometimes a girl's name. I have taught you well to use my own logic against me! I love how excited you get about the future.

I've lost my train of thought but that's OK because you wanted me to come and dry you off when you were done with your bath. And really I can lose track of a letter to future-you so I can spend time with now-you. I love you Monkey™, happy birthday.
