What is the accomplishment are you most proud of, and why?
I hate to pin it down to one thing because a) once I decided on the "one thing" I then procede to tear it apart, analyze all its' flaws until I am sure it is the most poorly executed whatever. things that rank right up there though: I am still (without too much introspection) proud of The Dumbwaiter andPrivate Eyes: both productions were well conceived, professionally executed. I loved being able to have been part of both of them. I'd like to say Rona is an accomplishment but mostly she is like raku: a somewhat unexpected surprise. She is beautiful, delightful and funny. I am proud of my shrinkwrapped JSI IVR application. It was damn long project (in that I spent 18 months working on refining it etc.) all the clients I went and installed one for love it and I like the idea that chunks of my code are in just about every automated jury system in California plus other states. Somedays I just proud that I have yet to kill a man and have not developed ulcers.
If you had to choose between coffee and beer, which would win?
Beer, I didn't stop drinking beer when I was in Denver but I sure did cut back on the coffee. Even after returning the Land of Well-Pulled Shots™ my consumption really never shot back up. I have coffee about once a month on average and most times it's what Sara has made here in the house rather than espresso. Plus you can't ask a man to give up Guiness. You just can't.
What do you think is the best superhero movie ever made, and why?
Unbreakable. I really like some of the more recent superhero flicks but ultimately they fall short somewhere (although I think both X-men and Spiderman were very successful in avoiding a lot of pitfalls that previous superhero films have been sucked into. I have high hopes and expectations for Wonder Woman because I think that the best stuff from the first X-Men can probably be attributed to Joss Whedon. Certainly the most memorable. I also ma really crossing my fingers for V for Vendetta one of my absolutely most favorite graphic novels. I hope they do it justice.
But back to Unbreakable: I am a sucker for unique settings and storytelling and I have not seen any other movie about a superhero that was so low key. Which I liked. It was so much easier to concentrate on character and interesting notion of what would people do if they got super strength or the like rather than getting bogged down in the melodrama that most comic book movies are going to take their cue from.
Describe the perfect meal.
Plenty of food and lots of friends and family. Possibly in some sort of pan-dimensional dinning room easily accessible across time and space. Or at the very least, space so the rest of us can drink to those lost to time.
Admit it: There's some question you were hoping I'd ask. What is that question, and how would you answer it?
No, not really. That would have implied an certain amount of time that I was not in possession of to ponder. Now that I do have time to ponder I find myself stumped. Say self, how does one un-stump one's self?
