I am going to be in Portland/Seattle Next week and I would like to make as many job contacts as I can. In order to further this cause if anyone knows anyone I should contact about a job as a VB programmer, project manager, general office work, full time stage manager or others they feel might be appropriate please let me know. I would rather not just interview to be a flight attendant. I will be in Portland until tuesday afternoon for sure and then my schedule is mostly open because it is empty. Thanks in advance for any help I may get.

From my brief stint as a career consultant, I've found the best technique is to find out who you want to work for and set up an informational interview without pressure for an immediate opening. That's how I ended up at the NPR station. You probably want more immediate leads, though. As for office work, I can recommend a couple temp agencies, and hospitals can be good places to work, if you end up in the right place.

Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Definitely check out

and let me know if there are any jobs you'd be interested in. If I know anyone in the department, I'll try to get an inside angle.

That's the hospital. As for NPR, you'd have to run the gauntlet of volunteering etc., first, which is probably not what you're looking for right now. I also know someone at ACT theater, and I'll touch base with him about the status of theater jobs in Seattle.

Have you checked out http://www.tpsonline.org/ yet? They have audition and job postings.

gimme money (that's what i want)

Yeah, volunteering is a luxury I wish I had. I am familiar with TPS it's been a while since I've looked at their site mostly because I have given up on theater as a source of living wage income. It's too undependable and usually not a living wage. Ah well... I will check out the hospital tho' thanks!
