Family Pride
17 November 2005 19:19So my sister (who got an LJ a little while ago) has been doing the running start thing for her last year of high school and has been attending SCC where she enrolled in a karate class from my old sensei. Apparently she has done so well she will be testing for her first stripe this coming Tuesday a week a head of her class. All so she can test for her second stripe the next week when the rest of her class is testing for their first.
In true Sensei Chinen style this is apparenly how it went down: Emily learned Gekisai Dai Ni, which none of the first time students have been learning (although they have been doing Gekisai Dai Ichi). After she was done her class clapped for her.
"Don't clap for her! That was terrible!" Sensei demanded, "but she will be testing for her first stripe next Tuesday."
"Now you may clap."
Gotta love Sensei.
Anyway, I am very proud she's done so well.
